090 Premium Rate

All services which cost more than £1.00 per minute and which may cost more than £20.00 in total, require ICSTIS' prior permission before operating. All live services and all consumer credit services also require permission before operating, regardless of cost.

090x Premium Rate Service
Premium rate services offer information and entertainment via phone, fax, PC, mobile, or interactive digital TV.
Services range from sports, voting and sex lines to competition, directory enquiry, chat and business information services, and currently vary in cost from 10p per call to £1.50 per minute.
Approximately 40,000 services are in operation at any one time, generating estimated revenue of £1 billion in 2003.
Premium Rate Service use the 090 dialling code and will usually be shown on phone bills as ‘premium rate call’ or ‘high premium rate service’. All UK-based ‘adult’ services must only be advertised on the 0909 dialling code.
